WORTH Scholarships
There are four scholarship opportunities listed below. Students in the Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management program, and College of Business hospitality programs qualify. Click each title to drop down an accordion for more details. Take note of deadlines and ALL application steps.

Who qualifies for this scholarship? Students who comply with the ALL of the following requirements:
- Are declared Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management majors and/or Management majors with a Hospitality focus area and/or students with a Hospitality Business minor.
- Will be completing an internship in Wyoming related to tourism, hospitality or outdoor recreation.
- Have a cumulative 2.5 GPA or higher.
Scholarship Information Students who comply with requirements 1-3 are eligible for up to $2,000 in supplemental funding (and in rare, extenuating circumstances, up to $5,000) while they complete the required internship experience in Wyoming. The WORTH Internship Scholarship is intended to support those who may require additional funding for wages, housing, transportation, equipment, food, certifications, etc. This is a need-based scholarship. An application does not guarantee funding.
How to apply?
- Complete the General Application on WyoScholarships.
- Submit this Google Form.
- ORTM students, complete the Internship Proposal Form.
- Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. There is no deadline. However, see details below about when scholarships can be applied to your student account.
Scholarship Acceptance
- Students will be notified over email within 3 weeks of submitting their application if money will be awarded. The coordinator may request additional details.
- Students will provide their full name, W #, and the semester which the money should be applied to upon acceptance.
- If you are awarded funding from this scholarship, please note that money will be deposited into your student account. It will first pay off any outstanding balance on the account. If your student account has no balance, the scholarship will be awarded as a WyoRefund.

- Scholarships may only be applied to your account during a semester that you are enrolled in classes. For example, if you are applying to the scholarship for a summer internship but are not enrolled in courses, the scholarship will be applied to your fall or spring semester. If you wish to have the scholarships applied to your spring account for a summer internship, you must submit this application at least TWO weeks before the last official day of class.
Who qualifies for this scholarship? Students who comply with the following requirements:
- Are declared Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management majors and/or Management majors with a Hospitality focus area and/or students with a Hospitality Business minor.
- Have a cumulative 2.5 GPA or higher.
- Preference for Colorado residents.
Scholarship Information Students who comply with requirements 1-2 are eligible for up to $5,000 in funding while they complete their coursework or internship. This is a need-based scholarship. An application does not guarantee funding.

Scholarship Acceptance
- If you are awarded funding from this scholarship, you will be notified over email by the coordinator. You must ‘accept’ the funding on WyoScholarships.
- Please note that money will be deposited into your student account. It will first pay off any outstanding balance on the account. If your student account has no balance, the scholarship will be awarded as a WyoRefund.

Who qualifies for this scholarship? Students who comply with the following requirements:
- Are declared Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management (ORTM) majors
- Have a minimum 2.5 GPA from high school.
- Maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA throughout all 4 years.
- Are first-time students in the ORTM program
Scholarship Information Students who comply with requirements 1-4 are eligible for $1,000 in funding during each of their four years enrolled in the ORTM program. Total $4,000 of funding over four years.

Who qualifies for this scholarship? Students who comply with the following requirements:
- Have completed FAFSA and demonstrate significant financial need.
- Are declared Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management majors and/or Management majors with a Hospitality focus area and/or students with a Hospitality Business minor.
- Are completing or have completed an internship in Wyoming.
- Have a cumulative 2.8 GPA or higher.
Scholarship Information The scholarship comes from the Pulte Gateway to Hospitality Student Transformation Fund, a program created in partnership with the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation and the Jay Kemmerer Wyoming Outdoor Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality (WORTH) Institute.
The fund is designed to support and encourage UW students to participate in internships in the hospitality and tourism sectors across Wyoming, internships that many students may not be able to afford without financial assistance. Uses of the fund include but are not limited to: costs associated with living in a different area during an internship, travel expenses, housing, personal expenses, etc. either during the internship or during the semester following the internship.
Students who comply with requirements 1-4 are eligible for up to $17,500 total – up to $10,000 to be allocated for expenses during the summer internship and up to $7,500 during the school year. This is a need-based scholarship. An application does not guarantee funding.

- Complete the “Pulte Gateway to Hospitality Scholarship” application on WyoScholarships.
- The link changes each semester. Type the name in the search bar.
- Deadlines change each semester and are visible on WyoScholarships.
Scholarship Acceptance

Due to the significant nature of this scholarships, we require awardees to send a headshot for a press release, collect photos during the internship, and submit a letter of thanks to the donor. The coordinator will organize these deliverables with the awardee.
