OBJECTIVE
Provide an undergraduate student who has completed at least their first year of college with real-world
experience working in water resource management and local government. Train a self-motivated, organized,
and dependable individual interested in Geological Sequestration while fostering skill sets that will help support
future career goals.
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
Groundwater Section | Cheyenne, WY
This position will assist our Underground Injection Control Class VI Program (Geological Sequestration). Assist
in review and development of guidance documents, review of hydrological and geological data within various
basins, perform data entry of monitoring data into the newly established Risk-Based Data Management System
(RBDMS) groundwater database as a vital contributor to the WDEQ’s data migration initiative, and assist senior
level geologists with field activities where necessary.
PREFERRED SKILLS
• Computer Documentation Tools: Knowledgeable using Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel,
ArcGIS mapping software, and have the ability to prepare and edit PDFs using Adobe Acrobat.
• Wyoming Geology: Understanding of general geological and hydrological terms with a beginning level of
understanding of Wyoming Geology is helpful.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to focus on fine details of a task through analysis and recognition of patterns to
help identify issues and provide potential solutions.
• Technical Writing: Strong writing and editing skills. Familiar with document formatting and knowledge of
document structure and styles. Ability to incorporate visual elements such as tables, charts, and diagrams.
• Interpersonal/Communication: Ability to get along with and communicate well with co-workers and
supervisors as a cohesive team as well as work independently. Ability to communicate effectively with
members of the public who may be unfamiliar with scientific procedures.
• Physical Working Conditions: Travel required. Ability to transverse over uneven terrain while managing
water quality sampling equipment. Ability to read and work on a computer.
INTERNSHIP DETAILS
• Pay: $23/hour, no benefits.
• Dates: June 1 – August 30.
• Hours: Up to 40 hours per week. Schedule is to be determined.
• Location: 200 West 17th Street, Cheyenne, WY.
