Nuclear Energy: An Emerging Issue Forum

You are invited to attend the Ruckelshaus Institute’s upcoming Nuclear Energy Emerging Issue Forum, convened in partnership with the UW School of Energy Resources and the Wyoming Energy Authority. The forum will take place on April 13-14, 2026 at the Rochelle Gateway Center in Laramie, Wyoming.

In brief, emerging issue forums are a chance to jumpstart collaboration around an emerging natural resource issue in Wyoming by bringing together key decision-makers. Over two days, we will build a shared understanding of the full fuel cycle of nuclear energy—from mining and fabrication to energy generation and spent fuel storage—and consider under what conditions new and emerging opportunities across the fuel cycle might be right for Wyoming’s communities.
Registration, sponsorship information, and more are available on the forum webpage. The deadline to register is March 13, 2026. Agenda forthcoming.
Direct any questions and ideas you have to the emerging issues initiative coordinator Birch Malotky at bmalotky@uwyo.edu. We hope to see you soon.

Join us for a two-day, statewide forum exploring the full fuel cycle of nuclear energy—from uranium mining, through fuel refinement and energy generation, to spent fuel storage, as well as supporting industries. Convened in partnership with the School of Energy Resources and the Wyoming Energy Authority, the forum will build a shared understanding of the benefits and risks of these various projects and consider under what conditions they might be right for Wyoming’s communities.

The forum will feature presentations and panels by regulators, researchers, industry, and community leaders; small-group, workshop-style discussions; and community engagement support and training. The forum is open to the public.
